GENESIS
PATRICE DUFOUR

ARTISTIC APROACH
The origin of my practice as a painter and visual artist is anchored in a sensory childhood memory. Fascinated by the raw contact with earth, sand, and clay, I modeled structures using my hands and improvised tools. Today, this primitive impulse guides my creation of abstract and meditative worlds.
The observer discovering the artworks contemplates compositions resembling landscapes seen from the sky, offering a true cartography drawn from the imagination.
The elaboration of these microcosms rests upon a profoundly alchemical approach. The cycle of creation revolves around the integration of five fundamental elements.

A SYMPHONY OF FORMS
MEDIUMS
I use gallery-format canvases to support my structural composition built with ultra-lightweight mortars.
The matter is enriched with acrylic and metallic paints, optical interference fluids, pearlescent inks, and epoxy resin, all protected by a matte or satin varnish depending on the artistic direction.
RESEARCH FOCUS
The objective is to work with abstraction through organic textures and to erect high-relief compositions reaching up to 50 millimeters in certain areas, acting as a sculpture of multiple textured twists that unfolds its full span.
The result of my approach offers the opening of meditative portals that invite the observer to contemplation and a healing surrender. My three-dimensional work also allows the ambient light to become the accomplice of the highlighted microcosm.
THE ALCHEMICAL PRINCIPLE
The integration of this elemental cycle transposes the original energy of nature directly into the matter. This alchemy structures my creative impulse to breathe a true soul into each composition.

EARTH
Earth expresses itself through the working of ultra-lightweight mortars. It erects the foundation of the painting, forming organic volumes reaching up to 50 millimeters in thickness.
In this series, the high relief dictates its rule and becomes the main actor of the visual architecture.
AIR
Air dictates the drying phase to forever freeze the gesture.
It represents the omnipresence of visual silence and the free areas of the microcosm, granting a spatial breathing room for the balance of the artwork.

WATER
Water intervenes to soften the ridges and facilitate the sculpting of this rugged topography.
This fluid element is also embodied in the use of epoxy resin, creating ultra-glossy areas in contrast with other zones of the composition sealed with a matte varnish.
FIRE
Fire experiences a deliberate and sensitive chromatic purification. Color steps back slightly to let the structure triumph.
The measured application of optical interference paints and gilding warms the matter, infusing a presence of joy and abundance that symbolizes the salt of existence.

QUINTESSENCE
Quintessence is achieved through the integration of a fine and intuitive calligraphy.
These delicate strokes summon the unique history of each creation. This language connects the observer's soul to the very essence of the artwork to awaken pure emotion.

THE INTEGRATION OF LIGHT
Finally, ambient light graces this microcosm, creating a play of shadows that metamorphoses as the hours pass.
Lighting asserts itself as the ultimate medium of my composition, activating the kinetic resonance of the matter. This luminous interaction breathes a living vibration that masterfully elevates the energy of your space.

MY ARTISTIC JOURNEY
The presentation of my previous collections illustrates the constancy of my sculptural research.
The vibrant use of pigments in the Éclosion, Poésie de Formes, AMALGAM, and SOUL TRIP series testifies to my mastery of volumes and color.
These years of exploration now trace the logical path toward the current refinement of GENESIS.

ECLOSION | 2006-2016

The Éclosion collection draws its vital force from the heart of the forest, immortalizing the infinite intertwining of its roots and foliage.
I shape this botanical abundance to offer a canvas of singular textural richness and absolute elegance.

POÉSIE DE FORMES | 2017 - 2018
Here, I explore the fascinating interaction between the application of vaporous hues and the organic roughness of my volumes.
The delicacy of the gradient and the energy of the matter converge to create an impact of absolute elegance.

AMALGAM | 2019 - 2022
The AMALGAM collection celebrates a masterful alliance with contemporary painter Éric J. Hughes. Our creative coordination fuses two distinct visual identities to erect a highly colorful universe of striking vitality.
The intimate intertwining of our techniques gives birth to intensely vibrant organic microcosms, offering the observer an aesthetic experience of absolute energy.

SOUL TRIP | 2024 - 2026
The objective of this collection is to guide the soul on a journey through organic and textured dimensions fostering a soothing contemplation.
The presence of an intuitive calligraphy tells the mystical tale of these places, confirming this series as the supreme culmination of my artistic research.

ARTISTIC JOURNEY
A 1998 graphic arts graduate from Collège Salette, Patrice Dufour establishes himself as an architect of matter. This Quebec visual artist builds a three-dimensional body of work of substantial impact, fusing pure intuition with the rigor of high-luxury organic design. His artistic journey bears witness to a constant evolution toward the absolute mastery of volumes that catch the ambient light and make it an accomplice to his meditative microcosms.
The blossoming of his career in 2006 marks the beginning of a passionate exploration of texture, vibrant colors, and dreamlike gradients. His notable presence in multiple symposiums rapidly propels his art onto the international scene. The year 2015 consecrates his talent by winning the Award of Great Distinction in Bruges, Belgium, followed by a masterful exhibition in Budapest, Hungary, attesting to the strength of his composition on the European market.
The creator follows up his successes by presenting a solo exhibition at the Cégep de Victoriaville in 2016. His need for expansion leads him to co-create the AMALGAM duo collection with painter Éric J. Hughes in 2019, showcased at the Artothèque de Montréal. These alliances validate his authority within the architecture of contemporary art.
Following a momentary pause of essential incubation, Patrice Dufour is making a remarkable return today. The imposing construction of his relief reaching up to 50 millimeters brilliantly invested the walls of Galerie Lenoir in Old Montreal (2025-2026) and captivated the public during the Salon des Artistes at Marché Bonsecours in 2026. Empowered by this accomplishment, the integration of his vast organic structures now conquers the corporate space and sovereignly redefines prestigious interior design.
